Two Talinn Tourneys spell big events for the town

The town of Talinn, with a population of 400,000, is one of the most popular stops for partying Finns, who travel to the town when in a party mindset to take advantage of the cheap alcohol and beautiful women. Talinn is also becoming a major hotspot for European poker, with two big tournaments planned for the town this spring.


The first tournament will be the William Hill Baltic Open, from March 24-26. This will be the first Baltic Open for William hall, and will feature a main event with a prize pool estimated at 240,000 euro dollars. William Hall Poker will be adding 25,000 euro to the pot, and the poker tourney will be counted towards rankings in the European Poker Rankings. Online satellites will guarantee at least 20 packages, each winning a 2,200 euro dollar seat and 1,000 euro dollars in expenses.


Ladbrokes will be next for the Estonian town, as the Ladbrokes Talinn Challenge will be held from May 19-21. Ladbrokes has decided to hold another tournament in the city after holding a very successful tournament there last December, with a bigger prize pool of $300,000based on the maximum number of participants coming, 150. The venue will be the Reval Park Hotel and Casino, where it was also held in December. Ladbrokes has added a $36,000 seat sponsorship that will see the winner going to the Ladbrokes Poker Million Final.


The Tallinn Challenge package players receive for winning the weekly Monday final includes a $2,000 freeze out tournament buy-in, two nights accommodation for two, entertainment, breakfast and dinner buffet. In addition to the main event a wide range of cash games and side-tournaments will be offered. The maximum number of entries to the main event is 150.

Epner is shooting for the Rock and Roll Marathon in San Diego, and needs to raise $3,900 to do so. She has already tapped into resources from family and friends. Epner joined the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society after her father contracted sinus cancer and was able to fight the disease with the help of the society.


The Speakeasy is donating both the venue and the food for tournament players, in addition to drink specials. The Kings and Queens poker company will be donating the game materials, including cards and chips.


First prize in the tournament well be a trip to Las Vegas, and other casino vacations are going to be made available through raffles. The buy-in is $20 online before the event, or $25 at the door. The organizers are expecting between 40 and 60 entrants.
