In the presence of several district authorities, David Moore read the
new board policy which strictly prohibits any form of gambling on school
grounds which includes poker, or card games, slots, dice, or roulette,
as well as any other contraption that's purpose is to be used as a
gambling device.
“Dealing with this issue has been exhausting over the past six
weeks. The problem is the old board policy was vague and difficult to
interpret. This new policy spells out pretty clearly what isn't
allowed.” Moore said.
The new school board policy was written by Dr. Damon Gamble, the
school superintendent.
“The other policy was just too vague,” Gamble said. “Nobody knows for
sure what kind of message we would send to young people if we allow the
poker tournaments. We feel we are doing the right thing and feel
comfortable with the new policy."
Also approved for continued student transportation was a new contract
with Monticello Bus Service.
