WPT finds it's new hostess
The World Poker Tour has found a new face and voice to replace Shana
Hiett as hostess of its main events and partnered events in the lovely,
talented, professionally qualified and vivacious Courtney Friel. This
new attraction on the World Poker Tour circuit will undoubtedly win over
the huge and growing audiences that watch the televised poker
tournaments.
The 25 year old Friel replaces previous hostess Shana Hiat in the fourth
season of the World Poker Tour after an extensive search for the right
combination of intelligence, beauty and personality, a contest that
Friel won hands down.
Friel moved to California from Valley Forge. She has been living in Los
Angeles since 1999, a graduate from San Diego State University where she
successfully studied a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a
minor in Broadcast Journalism. After graduation, Friel moved into the
highly competitive arena of network television and journalism with
Channel One in Los Angeles, worked as an anchor and reporter in Jackson,
TN, and in the newsroom with KPSP in Palm Springs, CA. A highly
competent writer and interviewer, her entertainment reporting has been
widely used on networks and shows such as E! Entertainment Television,
EBTV Gaming, Nickelodeon, and others.
“I’ve done pretty much everything when it comes to reporting. I’ve
lugged my own cameras, edited my own tapes, even operated the
teleprompter with my foot- just everything! All these skills, and more,
I am hoping to bring to the fans of the WPT during the broadcasts,”
Friel said.
WPT set Friel right to her task, sending her off to the World Poker Tour
Boot Camp to become more familiar with the game, and now she is ready to
combine her new skills with her established talents for the popular
television series.
